Attaching the three feathers into the wax Top Knot of the Scalplock to make it one unit that can be detached by the foundries mold maker. Keeping the feathers in their set positions.
Then painting the wax to match the clay.
David, I was working on a small piece for some friends and ran out of lighter fluid to smooth the clay ,so, I tried charcoal lighter and I think it worked as well if not better and with less fumes. It's still cold in the Boat.

Yes, but does it leave a film on the clay that will wreck havoc with the mold maker.?
