Ghost Dance Night Of Scary Things at my Door I play with Clay

Just turned 71 two days ago.. so this is my first video in my 71st year. It's Halloween and many scary creatures were coming to my door while I worked on this clay tonight. Almost finished with it.. Just had an idea of what to do with an empty space on the piece.. I'll get to that the next time.

Ghost Dance - Inspiration in the Middle of the Night

Was just getting ready for bed. Went to my sculpting stand to turn off the light, and just for a moment, I glanced at the clay before turning off the overhead light. I saw a flash of a blanket off the shoulder of one of the woman dancers. I turned off the light, but that vision stayed with me. About a half hour later, I had to do something while I could still see it in my mind. So I went to the clay and started to add that blanket I saw. A vision.. who knows.. but I had to act on it. Granted, a robe is a small thing, but not at this moment, it wasn't.

Ghost Dance - The hands Have It

Today I took all those hands I created last Friday and started to join them to the arms waiting for them... Then painting them to match the clay.

Ghost Dance - Last Day On The Hands, FINALLY

Got paint at the hardware store, to paint the wax hands, to make them look like the clay. Less confusing to the eye that way. I then finished doing the hands for the figures of the Ghost Dance piece at my computer table, in wax. I'm using the wax because it holds detail better than clay at the size I'm doing them.

Ghost Dance Back to Wax Hands New Method to Make Them Uniform

The toughest part of this clay has been doing the hands.. So small, and a real need for proportion. I finally figured it out. I woke this morning with an idea. Size the hand on my publishing program, Printmaster Gold 18, size them and use the outlines as a guide. Well it worked.. I can still keep my hands sketchy but at least they'll not be awkward.

Ghost Dance - Back at it Again

Been a long absence. I had the workshop last week in Texas and then suffered from an inner ear infection that threw my balance off... But today.. I'm back and feeling great. I am reworking the hands of course and hope to have them done by tomorrow. Just had to scale them to fit the figures.

Ghost Dance Hands Fail

Working on the hands and just as I was finishing them.. and then actually putting them with the figures.. I came to the realization... they're way to big. So redoing the hands will have to wait till next week. I'm spending tomorrow getting ready for my trip to Texas the next day.. I also decided not to put any videos up till I get back from the workshop. Staying with friends and the last thing I want to do is be working on videos instead of visiting..

Running Errands, Talking About Workshop, Talking about a Bear Attack

Leaving for Texas on Wednesday of this week and will be doing my workshop over the weekend... A rainy cold day in my town for the past two days. This is me, just going to the post office and the store.. Real exciting stuff, but just what I do on a daily basis..
