Hi David, great progress on this piece. As a relative newcomer to your blog and videos, I have been going back and watching a lot of the earlier stuff. The process is fascinating. I do have a question about the j-mac clay. It is apparent that you use the tan instead of the brown that they sell, but what is the firmness level? I see they carry the tan in soft, medium, and hard. And what is the softening process you use? Light bulb? or do you have a warming tray set up of some sort? Just interested in your materials.

I use a swing arm lamp and a 100 watt bulb to soften my clay. It's a medium. I use a hot box. I show how to make one in this blog entry.
