Western Heritage Collection - Shirt and Hair Today
I'm struggling with the design of this piece. Not because I don't have the vision to complete it, but because I want it to be, the very best, and as interesting as possible. So I'm taking my time to get it right.
It is very interesting your explanation on braiding and how to look where each bunch of hair begins. It helps a lot to make it realistic.
What is the title of the book you were using as reference? It seems very complete. I did read than some early photographers, when they went to the west to record American-Indians, where posing their models with accessories and clothing from different tribes and then some of the books I got from B&N, even when they have interesting pictures, sometimes are not so accurate reference material.
I also noticed that you sculpt against a gray flat background is that for filming issues or it helps you to focus in the piece?
The book is called Mystic Warriors of the Plains by Thomas E. Mails He has several other books as well. One on the Apache, and one on tribal societies. I use the background for filming. White makes the camera darken the subject. As well as just cool on my eyes. Thanks Walter for your questions
