Creating a Porcupine Quilled Strip on the Buffalo Robe
Buffalo Robes were often decorated with either paint, beads or in the case of the robe I'm re-creating, a strip of Porcupine Quills woven into a strip down the center of the robe.
Porcupine quilling is an ancient Native American Art. Indian Quillwork involved softening, in boiling water, and then using natural earth dyes, then flattening the quills and weaving them onto Leather or other material.
