Continuing on My Instructional DVD on Creating a Horse from Scratch
Getting close to the finish on my horse for my 10th Instructional DVD. I hope to have the sculpting done this week and editing of the DVD by the first of next week.. Well at least that's the plan. It's taken me far to long already in the creation of the DVD. I'm already thinking of my next piece..

Coloring The Bronze TROUBLE MAKER
The first copy of TROUBLE MAKER was colored in bronze today. I videoed it from the raw bronze to adding the first Chemicals. The process of coloring bronze goes back 5,000 years, to stone caves and mud shacks in the ancient world. I once held a 3,000 year old Hittite Bronze Sword in my gloved hand. What an awesome feeling that gave me. Looking at the fine detail work in the blade and handle. Perfectly balanced. Green patina was the only sign of it's age. It's always fascinates me when I finally finish one of my bronzes. I've been so blessed by my Heavenly Father, who gave me this small spark of creation, in my hands and fingers. I know where my gift is from. I'm just the vehicle to inspire and create.

Thoughts and Horse Progress
I was working on my horse for the Instructional DVD. The thought occurred to me, I've just sold a full set of my DVDs to a person in Jerusalem... I'm seen all over the world.. 20 years ago, I couldn't even imagine that people on the other side of the world would see me and my videos. But they do.. It just made me pause today and contemplate that. The world is truly getting smaller.

At the Foundry Delivering the clay of THE VIKING and checking on THE TRO...
It was time to deliver the clay of THE VIKING to be cast into bronze. It'll probably take 8 to 12 weeks for that process... While at the foundry I checked on the progress of piece I dropped of a few weeks back of the bust of the cowboy, THE TROUBLEMAKER. It's in ceramic shell. The wax in the Ceramic Mold will next be melted out and then bronze will be poured in. So another couple of weeks on that piece. Got home to a wonderful rainstorm in 48 degree weather.. Love Thunder.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 * April 21, 1910), better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. Among his novels are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885). Scenes of these stories are in relief on the base of this bronze.
Twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which later provided the setting for Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. He served an apprenticeship with a printer and then worked as a typesetter, contributing articles to the newspaper of his older brother Orion Clemens. David Lemon, the artist of this bronze also worked in Type Setting and the Printing Business in Salt Lake City, before becoming a full time artist.
Mark Twain later became a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River before heading west to join Orion in Nevada. He referred humorously to his lack of success at mining, turning to journalism for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise. His humorous story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", was published in 1865, based on a story that he heard at Angels Hotel in Angels Camp, California where he had spent some time as a miner. The short story brought international attention and was even translated into classic Greek. His wit and satire, in prose and in speech, earned praise from critics and peers.

What Tools I use to Sculpt With and Kind of Clay
I show the tools I use to sculpt with in this video. An artists tools are so important. Bad tools get armature results. If you want to become more professional in you creations in clay, tools, and their quality make a huge difference. I also talk about the clay I use and how I soften the Plasticine so I can use it. This clay is non hardening.
The Viking Filling in Holes and Fine Tuning The Hair
Putting the finishing touches on THE VIKING today. Need to make the clay more foundry friendly. What I mean by that is filling in holes and cracks and deep recesses in the clay. Anything that requires extra time to take care of in the production of a bronze will end up hitting my bank account. So time taken now to refine the clay will save the foundry time when the produce the bronze copies. This bronze will be in a limited edition of 40.
