Eagle Dancer - Re-thinking the Head of the Dancer

I actually finished this piece on Friday the 28th of January. These next two videos take place from Thursday to Friday of last week. Just to much to put on one video. So Wednesday of this week will be the last video on this wax.
I've been uncomfortable with the head on this dancer for several days. So today I addressed the face of the Eagle Dancer.

Today I finished up putting the feathers on the Eagle Dancers wings. I then started his hair, and his headdress.

Started the day making feathers for the wings of the Eagle, and then attaching them to the left wing. Started to have an idea for the base as well

Today I start to flesh in the Eagle Dancers face and lay out the strip that the eagle feathers will be attached to.

Been Working very late into the night lately ... and into the very early morning on this piece. It's almost 5am now and I'm just uploading what I did yesterday morning and just finished working on the piece this morning.. I'm getting excited with this piece. So my videos are a day ahead. I know I have to go to Bozeman sometime this week and I just want to keep ahead so you don't get a day without my vid.. Can't always do this but it was the State of the Union address tonight and.. well just wasn't interested. I know what the state of the union is. lol So I worked.

Had a request .. several requests from a friend in Germany, to finish the horse. I wasn't really in the mood to start the Eagle dancer anyway so here I am working on the wax horse. By the way.. it measures 6 1/4 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches long.

All works of art start with a vision. I had a dream the other morning. Today I started to bring that dream to a three dimensional form in clay.

This will be on of several horses and riders in a sketch I'm making in wax.

Spirit Wings - Delivered to the Foundry Today

A client who purchased the first copy of this soon to be bronze, came along for a tour of the foundry. I delivered her to the foundry and it will take about 8 to 12 weeks before I'll be going back to color the finished bronze.

Spirit Wings - Longhorns, and Frozen River

Yesterday on the way to Bozeman Montana, I passed a herd of Longhorns in the northern part of our valley. This morning I heard that the road south out of town was closed, due to the Madison River flowing over the bridge. Well by the time I got to the Odel Bridge, They'd cleared it up and were doing maintenance.
Finished up detailing and putting texture on the blanket today. This clay will be finished tomorrow.

Spirit Wings - Dress Work - I comment on taking critiques

I worked on the dress and much more, but only showed the dress work. I needed to address my taking critiques from people on my work. One person became upset that I took criticism on part of this clay. They held me on a pedestal and didn't think I should take any criticism. Well I just wanted to have a final word on that here. No more will be said by me about it. I love you all, but believe me, I'm accomplished but I'm not a Master.

Spirit Wings - Raising Her Forehead and Freezing Her Face

This first day of 2011 I'm extending her hair line a bit and working more on her eyes. Using Canned Air I freeze her face so I can do tighter detail.
