Ghost Dance Using My New Vise Making the First Hand

I used my new Articulated Model 209 Vacuum Base Precision Vise today for the first time. It was a great tool. I started the hands for the Ghost Dance piece. I used wax for the first hand. I am using wax because it's more durable. Especially since the hands are so small. Using wax I don't have to make armatures for fingers.. The wax will hold it's shape better.

Just Recieved My Articulated Model 209 Vacuum Base Precision Vise

I ordered a articulated vise to hold small parts of my sculpture as I work on them.. I just got me one today.

Sugru is the world’s first mouldable glue that turns into rubber. Invented by Jane and made with love (and science) in the UK, Sugru is here to make fixing and making easy and fun. Pretty cool. I noticed my wire wasn't held well because of the way the jaw faces are constructed.. They sell rubber slip over covers, but I didn't want to spend more money and wait another week.. So I got the last of my Sugru out and made my own pad from it.

Ghost Dance - Puttering Around With the Clay

I'm holding off working on the hands till I get a new articulated vice to hold them in. I expect delivery on the 22nd of September (tomorrow) and can't wait to use them for the first time. I worked on the robe of the one warrior and then added several feathers on the back of his head. I really love the way this piece is coming together.

Ghost Dance - Deer Skin Shirt and Blanket

Tried to create a Deer Skin shirt. Native Americans would tan their hides with the brains of the animal the skin came from.. It's a very labor intensive. Google "Brain Tanning". It's amazing. Brain Tanned Leather is the finest leather you can ever buy.. Very very expensive.

Ghost Dance Correcting the Medicine Wheel

Ghost Dance Last Figures Face Today

Good day today. Felt good, and my numb index finger on my right hand wasn't as numb today. I'm tellin ya.. getting old ain't for the young.. haha I went to the local Fly Shops.. Ennis Montana is famous for it's fishing on the Madison River. I found out how expensive that sport can be today. I went to a couple of Fly shops and asked about Fly Tying Vices today.. Like art supplies, fly tying supplies are over the wall expensive. So I made a jury rigged vice grip.. It worked just fine..

Ghost Dance Creating a Medicine Wheel that one of the Dancers Will Be Ho...

I decided to add a sacred Medicine Wheel to this piece today. Lakota Medicine Wheel The Native American medicine wheel is a sacred symbol used by indigenous Plains tribes to represent all knowledge of the universe. Circle - The circle represents the sacred outer boundary of the Earth often referred to as the Sun Dance Circle or the Sacred Hoop. It represents the continuous pattern of on-going life and death. Lines - The horizontal and vertical lines represent the sun and man’s sacred paths; the crossing of the two lines indicates the center of the Earth where one stands when praying.

Winterizing my Studio

Moving from my main studio into my home studio. I do this each winter because it's just less expensive to pay for heating in my home rather in both the studio and home. I'll be back to sculpting tomorrow. See you all then.

Madison Valley's Veterans Memorial - David Lemon's Monumental Bronze - V...

A video I made 10 years after 9/11... of a Memorial that I was a part of, on July 4th, 2001. Just a few months before the attack on our country in September 11, 2001. I still get man tears..

Ghost Dance Last Dancer today and Base Re sizing

I only got 4 hours sleep last night.. While editing this video.. I'd be sound asleep.. so if I missed any edits.. that's why. Before adding the last figure on this base.. I thought it best to cut down the base a bit. I'm happy how this clay is working out.
